Welcome to the Teach Your Child to Read Course

Hi, I'm Akeeba!

I am a certified elementary school teacher who left the classroom a few years ago to homeschool my Β children. I was so torn about leaving the classroom - there were so many kids who needed help! So, I began making YouTube videos to help parents teach their children at home. Since then my audience has grown a lot and I've helped thousands of parents teach their children to read through my courses, videos, and other content on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. I can't wait for you to start the magical journey that is teaching your child to read! Here you'll find other parents/educators/family members like yourself. Β Welcome to the community!

FAQ

  • Is the course worth the price?

Yes! The price is much less than learning centers or tutors which in many places average $40/hour. With this one course you will be fully equipped to teach all your children to read. No more money spent on random books, apps, and other fluff. In addition to the lessons you'll join a community of parents who all have the same goal as you. I think our conversations and friendships that are formed are an added benefit!

  • What do I do after I register?

The course is on demand. You can start anytime, and jump on Sunday zoom calls with me at your leisure. The calls start back up in March, but I would suggest getting started first. You'll be sent reminder emails. Until then, check out the Introduction/Materials and join us in the community rooms.

  • What age group is this for?

Children ages 3.5 - 7 will benefit the most from this course. Your younger child can certainly join, however know their pace will be slower. I caution people from starting too early if they aren't fully prepared to be 100% patient with their toddler. You also have the option of joining our pre-reading course which is perfect for children under 3.5 and starts in February. Older children should wait to join my "Reading for Big Kids" course.
